The Wreaths Across America (WAA) story began over 30 years ago when Worcester Wreath Company from Harrington, Maine, began a tradition of placing wreaths on the headstones of our Nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. Over the years, Worcester Wreath has sponsored countless wreaths which were placed by volunteers in a wreath laying ceremony each December.
The WAA Houston wreath laying began in earnest in 2008 with ever growing support from the community to honor our local veterans with a wreath at the Houston National Cemetery. Beginning with a beautiful ceremony attended by thousands, each branch of service is honored. Immediately following the ceremony, the volunteers in attendance set out to lay the 40-50,000 wreaths. In the end it is an awe-inspiring sight to see and a very humbling experience to witness the outpouring of kindness and respect for our veterans and their families. This year the event is on Saturday, December 13th, beginning at 11:00am. All are welcome.
