As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Houston Police Foundation was established by local business leaders to champion essential projects within the Houston Police Department. Generous donations from individuals and businesses fuel special programs, bolster officer safety, facilitate training, upgrade equipment, and introduce new technology—all of which would be unattainable within the constraints of the city budget. Notably, around 96% of the Houston Police Department’s annual budget is devoted to salaries and administrative costs. The Foundation’s role is not to replace funding for core law enforcement services, nor to undermine the City of Houston’s obligation to ensure adequate funding for the department. As the landscape of law enforcement grows increasingly intricate, the Houston Police Foundation recognizes the need to remain at the forefront of training, technology, and equipment, and to cultivate strong communication and partnerships within the community. Together, we can meet these challenges and strengthen our city’s safety and security!
