HOUSTON BOAT SHOW REPORTS 14% INCREASE IN ATTENDANCE AND STRONG SALES
The 60th Annual Houston International Boat, Sport & Travel Show – the largest indoor boat show and one of the longest running boat shows in the U.S. – wrapped up Sunday with a 14% increase in overall attendance and a significant boost in sales.
The show, which fills the entire 16 acres of the NRG Center floor with boats, travel trailers and a wide range of merchandise for the outdoors, took place from Friday, January 2nd to Sunday, January 11th.
“After all the hard work that goes into making the Houston Boat Show a success, we were so pleased to learn that overall attendance was up 14 percent this year and that resulted in very strong sales,” said Houston Boat Show President Ken Lovell.
“Since the Houston Boat Show takes place at the start of each new year, our sales and attendance are used to gauge what type of year it will be for sales revenue in the industry, and the local dealers and other exhibitors I talked to at the show are expecting healthy sales in 2015,” Lovell said.
Lovell attributes the boat show boom to a popular new floor plan implemented last year, a still healthy local economy and the fact that Houston has or is located in the proximity of nearly every type of body of water, including the gulf, bayous, lakes, rivers and bay.
